Other Details to Note
A Note on Comfort & Mountain Living: Designed to embrace its natural surroundings, the cabin has no air conditioning. On warmer days it may feel cozy, but opening the windows brings in cool mountain air, and evenings settle into crisp, comfortable temperatures. This is a place to open the windows, listen to the sounds of nature, and experience the rhythm of warm days and cool nights. If you enjoy fresh air and a more connected, natural environment, you’ll feel right at home. For those who prefer consistently cold, climate-controlled temperatures (especially for sleeping), this setting may not be the ideal fit. Here, comfort comes from the mountain breeze, not the thermostat. Please bring your own firewood if you wish to use the indoor Morso wood stove or the outdoor fireplace. *** County or State Wide Burn Bans or restrictions could be implemented at times due to Virginia's current state of drought. Please search for Grayson County Fire bans or reach out prior to your stay if you want to confirm if any restrictions are in place. These are outside of our control and no refunds will be issued due to these restrictions. Any fines or penalties issued due to non compliance are the responsibility of the guest. To ensure The Steel Nest is the perfect fit for your getaway, please review the following details about the cabin's unique character: - Embrace Nature: There are no window coverings in the cabin, allowing you to wake up with the natural light and fall asleep under the stars. - Hot Tub: We drain and refill the hot tub between each stay for cleanliness. It may take until the evening of your arrival for the water to reach its target temperature of approximately 102 degrees. - Mountain Air: The cabin does not have air conditioning. The cool mountain air and evening breezes typically keep the space comfortable, but please be aware that it can get warm, especially upstairs and during the heat of the day. - Unplug & Connect: There is no TV in the main living area to encourage connection and relaxation. The only TV is located in the primary bedroom. - Cozy Acoustics: The open design means sound carries between floors—perfect for conversation, but something to keep in mind for your group's privacy. What We Provide & What to Bring: We’ve stocked the cabin with essentials to make your stay comfortable from the moment you arrive, including linens, towels, paper products, hand soap, shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. You’ll also find starter coffee supplies (K-cups, creamer, and sugar) along with a selection of basic pantry staples. For longer stays, you may want to bring additional supplies to suit your needs, but what’s provided will comfortably get you started and often lasts through a long weekend or more. If you plan to enjoy the indoor wood stove or outdoor fireplace, please bring your own firewood.
